Heart In Thy Hands

So I'm laying in bed last night and the words to this poem/song just came into my mind. I couldn't sleep until I at least wrote down the chorus and a few other lines then I finished the rest today. This year has been really challenging, but I feel a bit of deja vu. We go through hard times and think that we've been pushed to our very limits, but then the next phase comes and is harder than the last. So if you are in one of these cycles too, just know you're not alone. I know our pleas are heard, though the answers don't always come right away. This is just a rough draft version so I might shape it up a bit, but I feel it needs to be a song and I have the melody in my head so I'll have to find someone to help me write the music.

Heart In Thy Hands

The days are filled with growth and work
and weekends with friends and fun,
but when the night comes I wonder if
I'll still be alone when all is said and done.
Doubts start to crowd my mind
Not good enough, too this or that.
I fall to the floor to drum it out.

Dear Father above, I'm down on my knees
pouring my soul out to thee.
Help me hear thy voice,
help me see thy hand
guiding me through thy plan.
Father, I put my heart in thy hands.

I should be counting lucky starts
for I finally found The One,
but now with this ring on my finger
I can't seem to quite measure up.
Expectations got all mixed up
and communication crossed.
Maybe I'm not what He though I'd be.

Dear Father above, I'm down on my knees
pouring my soul out to thee.
Help me hear thy voice,
help me see thy hand
guiding me through thy plan.
Father, I put my heart in thy hands.

Lots of questions again and again-
When will we become a party of three?
We answer with faith and through smiles
masking the pain and the tears.
As we lost one, then another,
our souls filled with sorrow,
But holding onto the Lord's promises of tomorrow.

Dear Father above, I'm down on my knees
pouring my soul out to thee.
Help me hear thy voice,
help me see thy hand
guiding me through thy plan.
Father, I put my heart in thy hands.

Why does each new phase feel harder to bear?
Maybe patience,
or timing,
or a bend in the road
keep me from seeing how to carry this load.

Dear Father above, I'm down on my knees
pouring my soul out to thee.
Help me hear thy voice,
help me see thy hand
guiding me through thy plan.
Father, I put my heart in thy hands.
